What is SAP EWM Module?

WHY SAP EWM
In order to meet the changing logistic activity demands in Adaptive Supply Chain Management, 3PL, 4PL and other emerging new logistics management approaches such as e-commerce and retail sectors, Warehouse Management Systems offer solutions and functions beyond the platforms where physical stock movements are required.
Logistics activities are now positioned on technological infrastructures. SAP EWM enables system-guided management of every detail within the warehouse complex, and allows for instant display of warehouse management parameters. Thus, storage capacities, workforce activities, and different resources within the field (driver/driverless truck, self-rooted robot, etc.) can provide instant reporting of the performance/KPI indicators.
The fact that SAP EWM does not have any additional effort to integrate the SAP EWM with other SAP modules along with the functions it offers for voice command directional warehouse management, automated, robotic storage and integration environments is an important advantage over non-SAP WMS applications.
Within the SAP product family, the story of the SAP EWM Module began in the SCM modules. As with all SCM modules, SAP ECC modules were installed and implemented in a separate environment from SAP ECC.
At this point, SAP EWM can be embedded into S/4 HANA environments with more limited functionality. If a company that currently uses SAP is planning an S/4 Hana transformation or new S/4 Hana SAP EWM can be run in the same environment in the embedded version. Finally, considering SAP's support for SAP WM will be removed in the near future, for the companies planning S/4 Hana Transformation or new S/4 Hana Application, it seems to be the right choice to plan SAP EWM transition in order to re-handle and model warehouse management.
